Nomi
A voice-first AI companion designed to feel like someone you are with — not a text field with a send button.

Context
Support you talk to on the walk home
Nomi is a voice-first AI companion. The idea was emotional support that does not feel clinical — something you speak to on the way home, that remembers what you said, and quietly turns it into notes and reminders you can use tomorrow.
The problem
Every AI app looks like the same tool
Text field, send button, scrolling transcript. That framing tells you the AI is a machine you operate — which is exactly wrong for something meant to feel like company.
The second problem was choice. People want different kinds of support on different days, but nobody wants to configure a personality in a settings screen.

Approach
Three decisions
1 · A home screen with almost nothing on it. One breathing orb, a soft gradient, and a single question — “Hi darling, what’s on your heart today?” No text field at all on first open. Talking is the default; typing is the fallback.
2 · Personality as a feeling, not a setting. The picker asks “Which one feels right for you today?” Four personas — Warm Lover, Bestie Vibes, Wise Mentor, Boss Mode — each carrying a plain-language dial: 95% gentle / 5% damage. It reads like choosing a mood, not tuning a model.
3 · Conversation that produces something. Mention a meeting and Nomi surfaces a note card you can keep. The keyboard row carries stickers and GIFs, so capturing something useful never breaks the tone.
Visual language
Warm without being childish
Lavender-to-white gradients, soft ambient shadows and rounded 3D iconography carry the warmth. Type stays a neutral grotesque and layout stays strictly aligned, so the emotional weight sits in colour and motion rather than in decoration.
The orb is the whole brand: it breathes when idle, tightens while listening, and ripples when Nomi speaks. Everything else on screen stays still.
